Here's a top-of-the-line jointer that's equally comfortable in the professional's shop or the home woodworking workshop. Its weight offers the stability the professionals and dedicated woodworker demand, and you can't help but admire its bounty of high-end features. Our favorite feature is probably the extra-long infeed table, at a remarkable 42 inches. Like others in its class, it has three cutterheads, rather than two, but unlike others we've used, these knives adjust quickly and easily, thanks to Delta's jackscrew arrangement. The 5-inch-high fence tilts smoothly and easily, and the rabbeting ledge makes a nice generous 5/8 max rabbet. You won't be short on power with the 1-1/2 horse single phase motor that's completely enclosed in the cabinet, where it stays clear of shavings and sawdust. We like the placement of the power controls, right where you need them should you have to shut down quickly. The bed is smooth as glass, and using it is an absolute pleasure.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste
