The Freud Difference
Freud manufactures some of the most innovative, technologically advanced saw blades in the world. To ensure that the highest quality products meet the toughest design standards, Freud owns and operates six manufacturing facilities in Western Europe. Freud is one of the few manufacturers of woodworking tools in the world that produces its own MicroGrain carbide with titanium, called TiCo -- a combination of titanium and cobalt. Freud develops different types of carbide for each application to maximize the cutting life and performance of the tool; and Freud also operates one of the most modern product development research centers in Europe. By overseeing the entire manufacturing process from start to finish, Freud guarantees some of the highest quality, most advanced products in the industry.

About Freud Industrial Blades
Freud's industrial series blades were designed for the serious woodworker. Available in a variety of styles for different applications, LU blades feature thick carbide tips, precision-tensioned bodies found in every Freud quality blade. Some LU blades include a red Teflon coating that helps reduce friction, heat build-up, and gumming -- which prolongs the life of the blade.

About this Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade
This blade gives new life to underpowered saws and produces smooth crosscuts in hardwoods, softwoods and moldings. Coated blades pull 1/3 less on the saw, which translates into 33-percent more cutting power. This thin kerf blade removes less material than standard carbide blades, thus requiring less horsepower to produce equally good results. The "fusion" tooth design gives glass smooth side finishes as well as a chip-free top and bottom during both ripping and crosscutting applications. Perma-Shield permanent non-stick coating reduces friction, protecting this thin kerf saw blade against corrosion, gumming and pitch build-up. With laser-cut construction made from high-strength steel, this blade is built for long life and precision. Pre-tensioning assures that the blade will remain flat through the shocks from cutting and stresses from turning at high speeds, and its anti-vibration reed design eliminates all vibration and produces the cleanest cuts possible, making the use of a stabilizer unnecessary.

Applications
This exceptional blade rips and crosscuts wood, chip board, plywood, and laminate -- but it is not recommended for ferrous metals or masonry. This blade is ideal for crosscutting with a fine finish, while using an underpowered saw.

Warranty
This blade is covered by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Great blade for underpowered saw   October 8, 2008
2005bravodelta (TN)
I tried this blade upon urging from a cabinet maker. The blade cuts great and has extended the use of my "antique" table saw. I used it on a project with tigerwood which is hard and dense. The blade performed flawlessly. This is a great blade for the weekend project kind of folks.

5 out of 5 stars Great Blade!   June 24, 2008

Bought this to replace the Craftsman blade that came with the miter saw and was amazed at the difference. Miter cuts that I used to really have a problem with matching up now are near perfect. Very satisfied with this purchase!

4 out of 5 stars I like this blade   February 27, 2008

Never purchased what I could call a top-of-the-line blade for my 2.5HP Craftsman 10" table saw until this one. I crosscut 3/4" red oak and was so impressed with the smooth wood surface. Hardly any bog down, not to mention the low volume of saw dust produced. The thin kerf and teflon coating must be adding to this affect.
This is the best blade I have ever owned, but since this is my first professional blade, I can't give it a 5 star rating, although it could very well be that. Very pleased!

5 out of 5 stars Smooth cuts all the way   September 13, 2007

This blade produces some exceptionally smooth cuts. I've used it in both my table saw and miter saw, and can't ask for much more. No jagged edges, no saw marks, no tearing. Even with my underpowered, direct drive table saw cuts come out clean.

Is it better than a Forrest Woodworker? No idea, never used one. It is definitely better than the stock blade you get with the saw. I also got the Freud 24T ripping blade. Together, I can get my table saw to actually cut wood.

I didn't know how bad my oem Ridgid blade was until I tried the LU88. The Freud rips and does great cross cuts. I'll get a few more next time Amazon has a 20% off on this item.
