Amazon.com Product Description

The Freud Difference
Freud manufactures some of the most innovative, technologically advanced saw blades in the world. To ensure that the highest quality products meet the toughest design standards, Freud owns and operates six manufacturing facilities in Western Europe. Freud is one of the few manufacturers of woodworking tools in the world that produces its own MicroGrain carbide with titanium, called TiCo -- a combination of titanium and cobalt. Freud develops different types of carbide for each application to maximize the cutting life and performance of the tool; and Freud also operates one of the most modern product development research centers in Europe. By overseeing the entire manufacturing process from start to finish, Freud guarantees some of the highest quality, most advanced products in the industry.

About Freud's Avanti Blades
Freud's Thin Kerf (TK) Series of blades provide precise, quality cuts for most every application. The advanced thin kerf design removes less material -- thereby reducing the strain on your equipment and increasing the life of your saw. The slim design requires less cutting power from both you and the saw, making it ideal for underpowered saws. A Silver I.C.E. coating on all Freud TK blades helps reduce friction, heat build-up and gumming, thus extending the life of the blade by as much as 50 percent.

About this Crosscutting and Laminate Saw Blade
The Freud thin kerf professional saw blade features carbide tips for a precise cut and a thin kerf for less power consumption. For easy use and added precision, the blades also feature an anti-kickback design and Tri-Metal Brazing for impact resistance. The blade has expansion slots that are strategically placed to allow for blade-body expansion from centrifugal force and thermal expansion during actual use. The slots are used to prevent air turbulence and eliminate vibration as well.

Applications
This thin kerf saw blade is designed for 10-inch portable table saws, radial arm saws, and miter saws, for precise crosscuts in thicker hardwoods and softwoods.

Key Tech Specs:

  • 5/8-inch arbor
  • 1/2-inch minimum depth of cut
  • 2-3/4-inch maximum depth of cut
  • Freud-Made TiCo Hi-Density Carbide construction
  • Silver I.C.E. coating to resist heat and residue

Warranty
This blade is covered by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

5 out of 5 stars smokin'   October 2, 2008
John Feesey (British Columbia,Canada)
I do light woodworking to keep up a commercial pottery craft fair booth. Shelves, boxes, cases, like that. Reading reviews of vastly more competent wood crafters that myself on this site compelled me to try this blade and replace the 50 T sidekick OE on the DELTA Tablesaw. WoW. Cutting spruce, cedar, fir stock; thin plywood, doorskins, particleboard, this blade excels.
Really and truly.
I had to wait awhile for the order/ backorder to clear, but worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Freud TK406 Avanti 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf ...   February 27, 2008
John A. Walker (Claremont, NC United States)
I just wish I would have found these blades about 20 years ago when I always had to find someone to sharpen my old blades.
These blades cut like a hot knive through butter.
And they are quite.
Also chrome, what more could you ask for.

5 out of 5 stars Freud TK406 10" Blades   June 27, 2007
Glenn Boehmer (Magnolia, Delaware)
I bought these two blades not knowing anything about freud blades. Let me tell you, that these blades turn and cut very true and are very quiet. I went with the 60 tooth for smooth cuts and that's what they do. The smoothest cuts I've seen in a long time (no Frey on the edges). I would buy these blades again in a heartbeat, especially at 34.95 ea.

I specified Freud 10" Finishing Blade due to their quality of product and it was not made in Communist China.

I always "Buy American" or it's allies.

4 out of 5 stars Good but....   May 2, 2006
Woody2 (NE USA)
The TK406 is a good crosscut blade capable of clean cuts. It's well made, and in typical Freud fashion, it's a good value as well, but I think their own LU88 is a better blade and better value at only $10 more. It makes cleaner cuts and doesn't dull quite as fast as my TK406 did. The teeth on the LU88 are larger, harder, sharper, and hold an edge longer. So, while the TK406 is fine, it's simply a matter of the LU88 having more advantages. Wish I'd known about the LU88 before I bought the TK406....too soon old, too late smart!
